Horse Show Groom

Description:

Looking for a hard working individual to join our team on the road at the shows. You will be responsible for managing the care/grooming for 3-4 client horses (no more than 4). Schedule is Tuesday - Sunday typically 7 am - 5 pm with some daily variation in hours depending on the horse show schedule. Housing is provided. Own transportation is preferred but not mandatory. Daily pay from River Wind Farm plus tips from customers.

Possibility for opportunities to flat/ride horses for qualified/experienced individuals if interested. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a great team of grooms, riders, trainers, and customers!

 
Requirements

Ideal candidates will have the following skills

  • self-starter who can take initiative

  • reliable & responsible

  • some horse experience required (experience as a show groom preferred but not required if have other horse related experience)

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Feeding & watering

  • Turn-out (certain longer away shows only)

  • Lunging

  • Wrapping

  • Tacking & untacking 

  • Bathing 

  • Grooming

  • Cleaning stalls 

  • Night check (rotates between staff members)

  • Bringing horses to and from show ring
